The Cup of Good Hope is part of the official Host City Hamburg supporting acts in Summer 2006 during the Football World Cup and will take place under the Patronage of the Second Major of Hamburg, Ms. Birgit Schnieber–Jastram, Ministry of Social and Family Affairs.

Among the many festivities and events along the Football World Championship, there is one outstanding project taking place in Hamburg: the "CUP OF GOOD HOPE".

It is a great event, which will bring together young people from all over the world with youngsters from Hamburg on the occasion of a football tournament. But within the project not the sportive competition is at first place, but fair play, team spirit and the passion for football. An extensive programme will contribute to become acquainted with other cultures, to cut back prejudices, to make friends and to present Germany as well as Hamburg as a host country respective as a host city.
During 10 days, the youngster will live together, will learn from each other and will scout the city of Hamburg together – something they wouldn’t experience without the “CUP OF GOOD HOPE”.

The different people and institutions working at and for the „CUP OF GOD HOPE“ show the passion this project evokes. The international acknowledgement is expressed by the support of the many consulates and their donations. Already at this point I would like to thank all who are making this project happen.
